There are many advantages of writing exams! Tests are a way of testing students theoretical knowledge. We check how much we have memorised of the topic and section and find out what we need to practise again. We get marks for writing them, which for some people may be an extra motivation to study. By studying for tests we not only acquire new knowledge but also train our memory.
