Bill Gates
William "Bill" Henry Gates III is an American computer scientist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and co-founder, chief software architect and former CEO of Microsoft Corporation, in which he remains an individual shareholder of the company with more than 9 percent of the common stock. He is one of the most famous entrepreneurs of the IT revolution period. Although he is widely recognized, his approach to doing business has been criticized as anti-competitive, which in some cases has been confirmed by court judgments. Since amassing his fortune, Gates has been involved in a series of philanthropic endeavors, donating large sums of money to charities and research programs through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, established in 2000. In 1995–2007, he was ranked first in the Forbes magazine's annual ranking.
