- If he had had more money, he wouldn't have cancelled his trip.
4. Tom didn't wear a coat and caught a cold.
- If Tom had worn a coat, he wouldn't have caught a cold.
5. You need to study hard to pass this exam.
- Unless you study hard, you won't pass this exam.
6. I didn't get a taxi because I didn't have any money.
- If I had had some money, I would have gotten the taxi.
7. We will have to leave without him if he doesn't come in the next 10 minutes.
- Unless he comes in the next 10 minutes, we will have to leave without him.
First Conditional:
- If + podmiot + Present Simple, podmiot + Future Simple.
- Podmiot + Future Simple + if + podmiot + Present Simple.
Używamy go do mówienia o sytuacjach, które będą miały miejsce w przyszłości, jeśli warunek zostanie spełniony.
Second Conditional:
- If + podmiot + Past Simple, podmiot + would + bezokolicznik.
- Podmiot + would + bezokolicznik + if + podmiot + Past Simple.
Drugiego trybu warunkowego używamy także wtedy, kiedy chcemy udzielić komuś rady.
Używamy do mówienia o sytuacjach hipotetycznych, mało prawdopodobnych. Służy także do udzielania rad.
Third Conditional:
- If + podmiot + Past Perfect, podmiot + would have + Past Participle.
- Podmiot + would have + Past Participle + if + podmiot + Past Perfect.
Używamy go do mówienia o sytuacji przeszłych, które potoczyłyby się inaczej, gdyby warunke został spełniony.
