The Mayflower was a commercial sailing ship with a displacement of 180 tons. Its captain and co-owner was Christopher Jones. The ship mainly sailed between England and France, carrying English woolen goods to France and French wine back. The vessel also sailed to Norway, carrying hops, vinegar, hemp, salt and hats on board. Probably the vessel was also used for whaling off theshores of Greenland.
