Second Conditional
Drugi okres warunkowy
Money or friends
What would you do if you won £10 million? If you had that amount of money, you wouldn't need to work – ever! Just imagine that! If you didn’t have to work, you would be able to spend your life travelling or relaxing – doing exactly what you wanted. Does that sound good to you?
Most people imagine that if they were rich, they would be happier. They think that if money was not a problem for them, they would have any worries in the world. But in reality, it seems this isn't true. Psychologists have found that what really makes us happy is our family and friends, and money can't buy those. So, if you could choose between money and friends, which would you go for?
Second Conditional - konstrukcja:
- If + podmiot + Past Simple, podmiot + would + bezokolicznik.
- Podmiot + would + bezokolicznik + If + podmiot + Past Simple.
W tej konstrukcji częściej stosuje się 'were' zamiast 'was', np. 'I wish I were younger' lub 'If I were you, I would choose this one.'
Drugi okres warunkowy (2nd conditional) ma zastosowanie w mówieniu o nierealnej teraźniejszości, hipotezach dotyczących teraźniejszości lub przyszłości.
