THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON
Although I've been a doctor for more than 15 years and had many "life lessons" during my work in the hospital, one experience has particularly stuck in my mind. During my second month of medical school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. That wouldn't be a problem since I was always an eager learner. 7.1.
It said: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?". I looked at the test again. Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. 7.2.
Well, I didn't know the answer but still handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. 7.3 .
"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello." I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.
