Greek holiday
If you are thinking about visiting a Greek island in August without (1) booking a room in advance, think again. Two months ago I spontaneously (2) decided to visit Greek island of Serifos. And although it turned out to be a wonderful experience, I don't think that everyone will be as lucky as I (3) was.
Normally when you get off the boat, you are greeted by local hotel owners with signs advertising their hostels and guest houses. This time I (4) didn't see anyone. All the hostels were booked up and there were no rooms available. If i had thought about it beforehand, I would (5) have realized that there could be a problem, as it was peak season.
Several hours later, I knew for sure (6) that my search for a room was hopelss. If (7) there had been a single bed available, I would have found it. I sat down in a cafe and wondered (8) what to do next. That's when i heard a voice call my name and, unbelievably, there was Costas - a friend from Athens! He asked me where I (9) was staying, and when I explained my situation, he invited me to stay in his parents' house, If I (10) hadn't bumped into Costas, I would have had to sleep on a beach, so I can only say that I am one lucky traveller!
