It involves going out in your neighbourhood with rubbish bags and gloves to collect rubbish. The event is especially popular at schools, where teachers promote the importance of protecting the environment. Children don't usually notice how dirty their surroundings are and, sometimes, even throw away their rubbish in the street. However, students are usually happy to take part in the weekend of cleaning, maybe because there are no lessons.
