Coca-Cola was invented in 1886 by an American chemist. He was called Dr John Pemberton. The name of the drink was chosen by a friend of Dr Pemberton. At first, Coca-Cola was used as medicine. It was sold in a shop in Atlanta, and only nine drinks were bought every day. The first Coca-Cola factory was built in 1888 in Mississippi. Last year, around 1.8 billion cans or bottles of Coca-Cola were drunk every day around the world.
