The Palace was "a gift from the Soviet nation to the Polish nation". It was built in the years 1952-1955, according to the design of Soviet architect Lev Rudniew, who was inspired by Moscow skyscrapers (known outside Russia as the Seven Sisters), modeled on American skyscrapers in art déco style. Architecturally, it is a mixture of social realism and Polish historicism. Together with the antenna bracket, which is an integral part of the spire, it is 237 meters high.
The Palace is the seat of many companies and public institutions
