In my opinion, Black Friday is a great opportunity to get things you've been longing for at a lower prize. Buy Nothing Day is a fun way to stop overbuying things we don't necessarily find useful.
I'd prefer to take part in the Buy Nothing Day because it can spread the awarness throughout the society about the over-consumption.
